ANGFA (Qld) is a independent, non-profit, non-commercial and non-aligned organisation. Our objectives are to promote the study, conservation and aquarium culture of the native freshwater fish species of Australia and New Guinea, and to provide a forum for the exchange of information.
These include the cultivation of aquatic animals or plants in aquariums and ponds, husbandry of aquarium animals or plants, and the use of aquariums for the study or display of aquatic animals and plants.
To undertake systematic habitat surveys to develop a body of knowledge relating to the distribution of native fishes and to maintain the integrity of species and local forms.
To inform the community and appropriate agencies of knowledge gained through such investigations.
Provide access to expertise on aquarium keeping and native fishes.
Promote a friendly, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere for members and those interested in the native freshwater fishes of Australia and New Guinea, and encourage participation by all members.
ANGFA (Qld) considers the preservation and integrity of the freshwater fishes of Australia and New Guinea as one of the association's important principals.
