Membership of ANGFA QLD is $20 per year (an additional $20 if you want hard copies of 6 editions of the newsletter posted to you).
Members of ANGFA QLD are eligible to:
- attend the Brisbane meetings,
- sell at our auctions at the end of each meeting (non-members can buy but cannot sell items),
- attend field trips (club members and their invited guests are covered by insurance),
- obtain discounts from some pet shops and suppliers,
- bring guests to our meetings and field trips.
Being a member of any ANGFA Club enables you to:
- post messages on the ANGFA forum (everyone else can read the forum but not post messages),
- view the high definition images, and the lat/long of the fishing locations on the ANGFA database, and
- attend ANGFA Conventions at a discounted price.
Our meetings are held in Brisbane at the Bar Jai Hall in Clayfield (Alexandra St, near the intersection with Sandgate Road).
Meetings are usually held on the second Friday of every second month, starting in February (unless they clash with a public holiday).
Meetings start at 8.00 pm and end at around 11.00 pm.
Each meeting consists of two or three talks, and is followed by an auction. We operate a club shop which sells books, nets, fish food, and other fish related material. A drink stall operates during the meetings.
You do not have to be a member of ANGFA to bid at the auctions or buy from the shop.
We also conduct regular field trips to survey the local streams and rivers. Once or twice a year we also combine with other states to conduct a combined clubs field trip, to somewhere further afield such as Coffs Harbour, Bundaberg, or Cairns. These trips are a great opportunity to learn about catching and keeping native fish.
We have a high quality club magazine, called ‘In-Stream’. The electronic version of the magazine is available through the club website (in the members area). For 2010, we are trialling publishing the magazine monthly (in electronic form). Six copies of that magazine are available in hardcopy for an additional fee of $20 (in Australia). The electronic copy is in colour, the printed copy is only in black and white.
Payment Options are electronic funds transfer, or cheque.
